Morphology weight: f 50-70 kg, m 90-130 kg, well adapted to hard conditions. Efforts to cross with more productive foreign breeds were not successful
History Local pigs can be found under oak woods on land covered with poor low vegetation. Oak-apples and roots from bushes provide them with suitable food but their owners sometimes supplying them with complementary food in order to cover the 10 % of their needs. The anaglyph of mountains region is suitable for the construction of shelters for the pig reproduction and development.

Remarks some periodic management e.g. removal of some males, health checks. These animals are raised with an extensive husbandry system in semi-free populations in the broad region of oak forests (near the villages of Vatos, Palairos and Monastiraki
